From the Franciacorta Wineries to the Adamello Glacier

An unforgettable cycling tour through a unique territory in Italy with a beautiful variety of sceneries, cultural and gastronomy traditions that will make us live a different experience every day. We will ride along the Ciclovia dell’Oglio (Cycle Path of the Oglio River) awarded with the “Most Beautiful Cycle Path in Italy” by the “Italian Green Road Award” committee.

We will ride through beautiful historic hamlets, UNESCO archaeological sites, we will visit wineries in the areas of Franciacorta and the Camonica Valley and we will cycle towards the extraordinary mountain sceneries of the Alta Valle (High Valley) ending our journey at the Presena Glacier with magnificent views over the Pian di Neve. The strong link with the territory will be a distinctive characteristic visible throughout the accommodation where we will stay and the choice of the best local restaurants will allow us to taste unique gastronomy experiences. We will be accompanied by our Tour Guide and have the support of our van for both luggage transport as well as any kind of assistance.

 

Day 1: Arrival in the Franciacorta Area

Arrival at your accommodation in the Franciacorta area. Tour briefing with the Tour Guide and bike set up. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2: Franciacorta Round trip

Total distance: 30 km

Today we will discover the beautiful Franciacorta DOCG area, a territory where the cultivation of grapes dates back to the Roman times. We will visit one of the most renowned Franciacorta wineries allowing us to appreciate one of the best Italian wines in the world. In the evening we will fully appreciate and understand the strong traditions of this territory, with a sumptuous dinner in one of the best local restaurant. Overnight.

 

Day 3: From Franciacorta to Montisola and Pisogne

Total distance: 40 km

We will start riding northbound through Iseo and Sulzano where we will catch the ferry to the stunning Montisola, the largest lake island in Europe. Visiting Montisola is like stepping back in time, beautiful lake hamlets and the total absence of cars make this place truly magic. We will catch the ferry back to Sulzano from where we will continue our ride towards the north of the lake along a stretch of the cycle path “Ciclovia dell’Oglio” from Toline to Pisogne. This stretch is certainly one of the most spectacular in Italy and follows the ancient link between the Valle Camonica and the Pianura Padana. Breathtaking views, ancient tunnels and stretches overlooking the lake conclude today’s ride. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight.

 

Day 4: From Pisogne to Darfo Boario Terme and Capo di Ponte

Total distance: 35 km

We will leave the lake behind us heading through the Valle Camonica. The Ciclovia dell’Oglio smoothly follows the bottom of the valley and along the river to reach Darfo Boario Terme. Here we will visit the famous Archaeopark that will allow us to step back into prehistory. Cycling back along the cycle path we will reach Cividate Camuno, an ancient Roman city where we will visit the Archaeological Park with the Roman Theatre, the Amphitheatre and the Temple of Minerva.

We will continue our ride cycling through the vineyards at the foothills of the imposing Cime of the Concarena in the shadow of Pizzo Badile, to finally reach Capo di Ponte base of the National Park of the Incisioni Rupestri di Naquane recognised as UNESCO National Heritage.

Typical dinner and overnight.

 

Day 5: From Capo di Ponte to Edolo

Total distance: 25km

We will start today’s ride with the beautiful views of the National Park of the Incisioni Rupestri di Naquane accompanied by a guide of the park and then continue our journey northbound. Our surroundings will dramatically change with ever more imposing mountains with occasional views over the Camonica Valley we will then reach Edolo. We will visit its historic centre and then transfer with the van for dinner in a traditional Mountain Hut. Overnight.

 

Day 6: From Edolo to Ponte di Legno

Total distance: 25km

Edolo is a renowned tourist resort as well as being the crossroad between the Valtellina and the Val di Sole. We will start our ride from here accompanied by a guide who will show us hidden deep inside the mountain, the incredible masterpiece of engineering  of the most famous underground Power Plant in Europe. After the visit we will continue towards  Ponte di Legno and after a first challenging part, our route will follow through woodlands and pastures. The brand new stretch of the Ciclovia dell’Oglio, follows along the river Oglio and after cycling many times over beautiful wooden bridges we will finally arrive at Ponte di Legno. Dinner in a traditional restaurant serving typical local dishes. Overnight.

 

Day 7: The Adamello Glaciers

Winter clothing will be required today as we will hop on the cable car connecting Ponte di Legno (1250mt a.s.l.) to Tonale and then the cable car that from Passo Tonale will take to Passo Paradiso Presena (3000mt a.s.l.) from where we will enjoy views of the majestics Adamello Glaciers. Transfer back to Franciacorta, return to your home, end of our services.
